Let them eat Cake!

Just an ordinary Cake Taker...I know! (from the dreaded WM)

Well, we are in the midst of BABY-AND-WEDDING-SHOWER-ME-TO-DEATH mode, and remember me...I don't have a job! But, I do love all of these people, and I don't want to do "nothing" for them, but I can't break the bank....so I thought I would put all of my craft-hoarding to good use!

So, out came the Slice...yes, the Making Memories Slice...and the vinyl! For this particular project, I used Black and White...and the new Sock Hop Design Card...yummy! I love cute fonts!

So, I gathered all of my supplies and got busy. First, I chose the letter...of the young brides new Last Name! Yeah! I remember how excited I was when I was FINALLY Mrs. Smith!


Then, after I cut the "M", I cut out some circles, 2 inch, 2 1/2 inch, and 3 inch, in both colors. And, started applying!


Oh, I love how this turned out! All of this for only $6! And you can bet...this will NOT be the last one I make!!

Trivial to some. Crazy fun dream to me!

A couple of months ago, I was on a trip with some girlfriends.....and as we came down the escalator of the airport...I said outloud “I have *always* wanted someone to be waiting for me at the airport with a sign with my name on it”.

I have always thought that would be cool. Kind-of like I am “somebody”. Really important.

Well, that happened to me this weekend! Check out this guy! Waiting for me! Yes, little ole me.



So, the funny thing is...I was in the towncar (the one he picked me up in!)...and I thought to myself how cool this whole things is...and then it’s like the Lord spoke right to me. I AM somebody. Someone really important. I am His Child. He made me.

I am a mother...a wife...a friend...a sister...I have so many roles. I am not the best or perfect at any of them, but I try. But, regardless of my imperfections, I am really special. We all are.

It’s so funny how it took that moment...almost like a little dream come true...for me to have a self-worth check. And, it does NOT take a guy holding a sign to validate my worth (but...it sure was nice :) )

So, on this trip, in my room, running through Beverly Hills....I had kind of a revelation...a time where I realized that my everyday reality is fun....because we make it that way. My kids love life. We don’t live mundane. Always on an adventure. Making the most of the little blessings we have been given.

And, I totally like it that way! So, my challenge to you, blog reader....go have yourself an adventure.....and remember that you are REALLY important....and if you don’t think you are...call me....I’ll come pick you up and I’ll have a sign with your name on it :)

Strawberry Pickin'

Can someone please tell me why I have never done this before???

We went to a A & P Farms (Strawberry Farm) last week and wow! What a yummy fun time we had!!!

Chanda, Jennifer, and I took the kiddos (we were rebels...we checked them out of school EARLY!!!) and off we went!

There were just rows and rows of them, red and ready to be picked!!! And, even sample a few while you pick....that's their policy!

They had fun...finding the little ones, and the rotten ones, and the ones that "something" had already had a sample of...and the big-fat-juicy-take-me-home ones!


So, we left there with 5 gallons of strawberries, I wish I had snapped a shot of that!!! And it only took us just a few minutes to pick that many! Yum!

Don't worry....this will NOT be our last visit!

Mother's Day---

Mother's Day---have we let the hype of the holiday take over?!

A gift and a lunch. Really. Is that what it's about?

I say this not to seem ungrateful, and not to take for granted that my mom and my mother-in-law are still here....but, because of the Hallmark holiday....we do our best to "squeeze" in a lunch, or a snack...in our busy schedules.

My sis was out of town...my brother did not come...and my Mom and myself both were trying to pack to go out of town.But. We "squeezed" it in.


Not quality, I tell ya.

So, starting now..I am working on a new plan for next year. Not sure what that is, but I want it to seem a little bit special. Not just like it was an appointment on the calendar, mixed up with other things on my "to do" list.

**But, I am thankful that we spent the time we did together and I hope they both know how much we love and appreciate them!!

May is National Running Month!

What!? This might be my favorite month....well, next to my Birthday month!!!

Ode to my running:

January 20,2007......my first 5k......and I had trained for over 2 months.

I did it. 32:33. I'll never forget crossing that finish line. My Aunt Teri said "burn it in...you've got to finish strong". I did. Like a rock star!!!

I thought it was great, and quickly signed up for another.

Then another.

Then, I won first prize in my age group....that May. Then, the boys went to a few. Then Scott tagged along.

A family affair. I am in love!

**So, this month, I hope to blog about some fun adventures, some goals, some cool products!
